A good Day!

A good day today.
No dizziness. No headache. Even the jaw seems to be opening and closing properly. Huh!
Weird. But I ain't complaining!!!

I'm still here!

Big improvement over yesterday...although I do have an interesting ear ache out of the deal and that old familiar pain in the back of the neck that comes around through the cheek and into the temple is trying to make a famous comeback. Grrrr.

But hey! It beats the dizzies, right? Although due to the echo in my ear I think the dizzies are coming again. Sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeesh!

Found a tiny slice of my splint in my coffee today. LOL.

Oh oh!!! I hope the splint isn't starting to fall apart! It's only...almost a year old...my last one lasted a little longer than that before the metal grips all started falling off. But this splint was made alot tougher than the other one. ...I hope.

jan off to work

Setback City

Dear Diary,

Can you tell I am in a bad mood?

Well I guess it was too good to be true...I noticed the decline yesterday...ear ache, neck pain and a tinge of that weird "things don't feel right" feel which of course leads directly to anxiety even though I know what the problem is.

Grrrr. I noticed the setback started up because of my increase in doing things like lifting...didn't I say I wasn't going to do that???? So I lied!! Bought myself a new microwave and those things are heavy...that's what got me!

I guess I'll have to take it really easy in the next few days until my chiro comes back from his holidays. I pray he can bring me back into order pronto pronto!!

Sheeesh don't you just love this TMJ??????????????

Wooooooooohooooooooooooooo Merry Xmas!!

I did it!
This is the first Xmas in Years that I didn't feel off balance or dizzy!!! I even played table tennis - an old tradition I hadn't been able to participate in since the accident - and I didn't get the slightest bit dizzy.

I think it is finally safe to say I think I'm on the mend to finally getting a grip on this TMJ stuff.
This dizzy free Christmas was the best present ever!
I had a most wonderful day with relatives and family and friends. The best since I can remember. Let's hope this lasts!

Here's a link to something I thought I had - I did alot of research and there appears to be all kinds of causes for dizziness... it might come in handy for those of you who suffer dizziness with head movements after a car accident.

Merry Xmas Eve!!!

Well I've survived without the chiro manipulations since the chiro closed down through the holidays...hopefully things will stay okay...knocking on wood.

No off balance feelings or dizziness...just an occassional "funny" feeling when the light is low and a little bit of echo in my GOOD ear...LOL. But nothing to cause that panic and anxiety that's been my constant companion of late...you see??? And they thought it was just "nerves" and I would have to "learn to live with it" HA!

Other than that so far so good. Whew! It's been one mother of a ride...I hope it is finally over!!!

I've received a recommendation from a fellow tmj sufferer mentioning that Dr. Gelb of New York City has helped her immensely with her tmd.

Here's their website to investigate: http://www.gelbcenter.com/

Another thing I'd like to mention. Today we had a visit from a friend who in the past after being in a car accident experienced dizziness, locked jaw and could not swallow. She went to a chiropractor in Peterborough, Ontario (a Dr. Frank Chisholm) who was able to help her dizziness on her very first visit by pressing against a certain bone behind her ear...

My chiropractor is doing something similiar by pressing behind and beneath my affected ear...my dizziness is pretty much gone because of what my chiro has done and she has had a similiar effect. If you experience dizziness, headaches etc...you might want to maybe look into chiro for your tmj too.

And don't be afraid...if I the Queen of Fear of Chiropractorss can go to see one or two then you can see what they have to say too!!! Cause no one is more scared than moi!

I'll keep you posted as to what is going on on my end. :-)

Merry Xmas Eve!

Hmmm I forgot to mention the chiro guy who I was sooooooooo afraid of and now look forward to seeing is off for the holidays until January 3rd...so I'm getting all tense and stuff hoping that things don't get worse since that horrible dentist visit.

I read somewhere that in the old days TMJ hardly existed because there were no dentists...in other words there could be a link between dentists and tmj...think about it...did your symptoms start shortly after a visit to the dentist?

When I think back my anxiety/panic attacks started almost to the DAY when I came back from a visit to my dentist back in 1986...I can still remember coming home from the dentist and finding my mom cleaning the basement...she asked me to help her move the couch and shortly afterwards I felt a little "funny"...meaning feeling as if something wasn't "quite right"...

Of course at the time I never even thought the dentist visit might be linked...but now I'm thinking it just might be...it just isn't natural to keep your mouth wide open for so long while a dippy dentist sticks his fingers into your mouth and pries it open and makes you keep it open for so long...the unnatural posture can screw with the ligaments and your tmj muscles...

Can you tell I am starting to develop a hate for dentists??? Anyways I have noticed over the past couple of years my symptoms do get worse after a visit to the dentist. I'm thinking I'm going to not go so often anymore and just brush brush brush and floss floss floss.

Update on my chiro visits

LOTS to catch up on...hmmm...it's been about a month since I started the visits with the chiropractor who does TMJ work...at the beginning I noticed a change for the better and that lasted a couple of days...then I spiralled again...echoes in the bad ear, lots of aches and pains on the good side of my neck which to me meant that my jaw was moving ever so slightly into the proper position.

Last week I noticed a change for the better again...this time it lasted about 5 days.

No dizziness, the teeth did not shift off my splint when I relaxed, no headaches, no neck pain, nothing, nadda, absolute heaven....until I went to the flipping dentist to get my teeth cleaned a couple of days ago...

Then I spiralled again. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

The funny thing is the dental hygienist had the nerve to say the chiropractor fees must have set me back...yet my one month of chiro payments equaled ONE HOUR of her crap...can you tell I'm pissed? LOL. I noticed about half way through the cleaning that my ear was echoing again...a sure sign that it had shifted...oh why oh why didn't I listen to my chiro when he told me not to go to the dentist???????????

Anyways I am starting to feel as if I have hope now, if only because of those five beautiful days of normalcy. And now I must go and update my links section so whoever comes to visit through the blog can catch up on my awful tmj escapades up until now that I posted at my site.

Here's a direct url to my history with tmj/tmd...
